Care & maintenance
Keep it looking new for decades.
Composite decking is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. A few habits keep your domestic warranty intact and the boards looking sharp.
- 1
Sweep regularly. Composite boards don't rot, but trapped grit + UV does dull the surface over years.
- 2
Clean with mild detergent + a soft brush. No solvents, no bleach.
- 3
Pressure-wash at under 2000 PSI, kept at least 300mm from the boards. Closer + harder pressure scars the surface.
- 4
Manage drainage. Standing water on flat decks invites mould. Slope your deck 1-2° away from the house.
- 5
Felt pads under furniture. Composite is tougher than timber but dragging steel feet still leaves marks.
- 6
Plant runoff stains. Rinse fertiliser, copper, and citrus splashes off the same day.
- 7
Watch low-E glass reflections. Concentrated reflection from low-emissivity glazing can melt board surfaces — most warranty claims trace back to this.
- 8
Never use direct heat. Fire pits need a heat barrier; outdoor grills should sit on a non-combustible mat.
- 9
Scratch repair: most surface scratches blend with a fine wire brush going with the grain. Deeper marks — call us.
